The People's Grocery is a non-profit (not a grocery store) responding to the lack of adequate healthy affordable nutrition options in the food desert also known as West Oakland.
It is located at 909 7th St (between Market St & Filbert St)
Community Rejuvenation Project was commissioned by People's Grocery to paint a series of portraits of local heroes beginning with Mother Wright, Huey Newton, Harriet Tubman, and Martin Luther King Jr.
