Rita Sklar, an Oakland resident was the 2013 recipient of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) Award of Distinction for her painting Winged Migration in Black and White. The painting was also selected for greeting cards by the national American Association of University Women (AAUW).

The painting was on display at @ Farley's East Cafe, 33 Grand Ave, between Broadway and Webster.
