Rosemary is an edible herb that grows all over Oakland. Once you recognize it (see below) and learn its strong, distinct smell, you will rarely find yourself wanting for fresh rosemary from a public or semi-public place in Oakland.
Ah, but yo, yo! Realize that this is a hardy herb that thrives in some hostile places, so be picky – make sure to wash it super well if you got it, say, streetside or from near a freeway, etc. I mean sure, it’s delicious and all, but … ain’t nobody got time for lead poisoning!
