Secret Oakland is a cool Instagram account that gives Oaklanders and visitors a new way to learn about Oakland. The entries feature different things around Oakland that people may see and not know much about, as well as things are are a bit more obscure.

According to an Oaklandside article, "The project was started last August by two friends who met while studying at San Francisco State University—a pair of women who, appropriately, prefer to keep their identities a mystery." and "Once they find a place they want to highlight, they rely on sites like Oakland Wiki for their research." 1

But clearly they use other sources, too, as they cover topics that there aren't Oakland Wiki pages for (yet), like the bomb shelter in the Humboldt Gardens apartment complex. 2
