Sidney Coe Howard (June 26, 1891 – August 23, 1939) was a Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and Academy Award winner who wrote the screenplay for Gone With The Wind.

Howard went to various public schools in Oakland before attending UC Berkeley in 1911, where he studied English and Classical Literature, graduating in 1915. While attending UCB, Howard's address was 87 Vernon Street, Oakland, California. He volunteered as an ambulance driver during WWI.

On August 23, 1939 Howard was killed while starting a tractor on his farm in Tyringham, Massachusetts.
