Spectator Books is at 4163 Piedmont Avenue, in the same building as Blue Door Beads and diagonally across the street from Piedmont Theater (cross street is Linda Ave). They are an independent neighborhood bookstore and have been in business since 1994. They stock a carefully-curated selection of both frontlist and backlist new books, but have a much larger selection of used books, including many mysteries, kids books, foreign language, art books, sale books, and more; they also do special ordering. Along with books, they carry DVDs, puzzles, journals, coloring books, calendars, prints, zines, t-shirts & tote bags, and a lauded and unique selection of greeting cards and postcards.
They share a small parking area with Blue Door Beads and they also do book trade-ins for store credit every day from 11am - 5pm. Store hours are 11am - 9 pm daily. They are closed Christmas Day and New Years Day, and close early (usually around 6) on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, but are open all other holidays. They will do simple gift wrapping upon request if they are not swamped, and they have a loyalty card available as well.
