There is a Statue of Joaquin Miller honoring the poet in Joaquin Miller Park. The statue is not far from The Abbey where Joaquin Miller once lived. The statue was created in 1942 by Berkeley artist Kisa Beeck, and was commissioned by Miller's daughter, Juanita Miller, based on a miniature she created. In 1968, restoration work was done on the statue, "including coating the statue with pigment and iron filings to produce a patina on its surface." 1 It is the only equestrian statue in Oakland.
