Tegner Lodge #149 is a Swedish culture and history club. Lodge #149 is the oldest Swedish lodge in the East Bay, dating back to 1908. It is part of Vasa, a global Swedish American fraternal organization.
People don't need to be Swedish to join, just have an interest in Swedish culture and history. The lodge meets monthly, on the 3rd Thursday at 6:30pm, with a potluck dinner and a cultural program, at Bjornson Hall, 2058 MacArthur Boulevard.
History
Tegner Lodge #149 started in 1908, after many Swedish immigrants regrouped here following the 1906 earthquake. For many years, the lodge met at Jenny Lind Hall.
