The Temescal AT&T Building is one of a number of AT&T buildings around Oakland. Like most of them, this one dates back to the original Bell System telephone company before it was broken up into separate companies.

The large brick building features terracotta bas relief details around the doors and windows, including the once-ubiquitous Bell System logo. There is a more recent addition on the east end of the building.

It's unclear what functions this building serves, but a number of service trucks are parked in a gated lot adjacent to it. In the past it might have housed operators and manual switching equipment; today it may house automated switching equipment. [ anyone know? what year was it built? I couldn't find a cornerstone. ]
