The Trappist
photo from Our Oakland
The Trappist was a Belgian-style beer pub founded in 2007 in Old Oakland. Its space is now occupied by a Sante Adairius taproom called The Arbor. Located in the Leimert Building which dates to the 1870s, the Trappist actually had two bars (and an outdoor (dog-friendly) area in the back) and served over 100 types of beer. Its beer list leaned heavily towards Belgian, Scandinavian, Dutch, and American craft breweries. They also had a nice bar snack menu in the contemporary California style (really nice olives, homemade pickles, etc.). They also served wine.
The Trappist closed during COVID-19.
