The Trappist
photo from Our OaklandThe Trappist is a Belgian-style beer pub in Old Oakland. Located in a building that dates to the 1870s, the Trappist actually has two bars (and an outdoor (dog-friendly) area in the back) and serves over 100 types of beer. Its beer list leans heavily towards Belgian, Scandinavian, Dutch, and American craft breweries. They also have a nice bar snack menu in the contemporary California style (really nice olives, homemade pickles, etc.). They also serve wine.
The Trappist also has two sister location, one (Trappist Provisions) in North Oakland on College Ave., and another in Walnut Creek (Øl).
