The Vanderkar Building is at the southwest corner of Fruitvale Ave. and Foothill Blvd. and has ground-level retail spaces and apartments upstairs. It was built in 1927 and owned by the Derby Estate Co. Realtor Jack Vanderkar was in charge of the building and had his offices there.
The building was designed by architect Guy L. Brown, and constructed by James B. Petersen. When constructed, the apartments included Spark Stoves and Rip Van Winkle wall beds. 1,2
