Women in the East Bay Industries

It is interesting to note that in 1920 there were 7,548 women employed in East Bay industrial jobs, which mainly included those in Oakland.  These women were found in sixty-two different plants, averaging 122 to a plant.  Some of this work was seasonal in its nature, and necessarily the number employed varied at different seasons of the year.  The statistics given regarding employment of women embraced no plants, however, which employed less than ten women.
