1. Be Respectful and act with Integrity.

Anything worth doing is worth doing with respect and integrity. Whether we’re planning the day with coworkers, checking in with a longtime community member, or meeting someone for the first time, we strive to go above and beyond in every interaction.

2. Engage deeply and take Ownership.

We are personally invested in making a difference. We don’t accept the status quo. Our diverse backgrounds, stories, experiences and personalities all meet to support one commitment: embracing Downtown Olympia to make it clean, safe, and welcome for all. If not us, who?

3. Be flexible, take Action, and make it work.

We are bold without being reckless. Proactive, not reactive. We don’t accept “that’ll never work” for an answer. We’re not afraid to make mistakes because that’s often the best way to learn.

4. Ensure our work is the highest Quality.

We are always on the lookout for ways to improve how we do things. We want to do good work, and we want to do it well. We strive to set and exceed our own high standards for getting the job done every single day.

5. Let Fun happen.

We have a sense of humor. We know that it’s good to laugh, and that work shouldn’t be all toil. We always look for opportunities to bring out the fun side of our jobs.

6. Educate, Empower, and Equalize.

We stretch ourselves both personally and professionally. We never let one another feel stuck in a rut. We know that within ourselves, and every person Downtown, lies more potential than we realize. We make it our business to unlock that potential.

7. Recognize we are part of something Bigger.

The work we do reflects the hopes and needs of many people. We know that our daily activities are part of a larger movement toward the betterment of Downtown Olympia, and we embrace our role by taking action and making a difference.

8. Build community by Bridging gaps.

Our primary mission is to build a stronger community in Downtown Olympia. We do this by connecting people and resources, removing obstacles, and fostering self-empowerment.

9. Meet people where they’re at.

We know that each individual we encounter brings with them unique experiences, and that no one can be defined simply by external conditions. We strive to genuinely get to know each person we encounter.

10. Be Excellent to each other!

At the end of the day, this is what it’s all about. Our work isn’t worth much if we don’t back it up with an awesome attitude. Excellence is the standard for how we treat our neighborhood, our community, and each other. It’s the Downtown Ambassador way.
