Adding a Missing/Found Pet Listing to PEI Wiki

  1. New to PEI Wiki? To add a listing you'll need to click on Edit at the top of this page.

  2. At the top of the Missing or Found section on Lost & Found, add a title to your listing. Place triple "equals" signs on either side to add your listing to the table of contents. Example:

===Lost Dog: Collie named "Lassie" Missing on YY/MM/DD===

~50lbs, outgoing; dark brown, female spay, chip.

Please email [email protected], or call (555) 555-5555, leave name and callback number.

  3. Below the title add information about the pet: a detailed description, where and when last seen (or found), your contact info, etc.

  4. Add an image, if possible (see Help_with_Images)

  5. If your pet makes it home, be sure to come back and move the listing to Success Stories page!

  6. Due to the number of missing pets, those who have been missing for one year or longer may be moved to the Lost Pets Archive page.

What Else You Can Do

When you first lose (or find) a pet, here are some practical first steps you should take:

  1. Visit the P.E.I. Humane Society in Charlottetown at 309 Sherwood Road.

  2. Check the SPCA Found Pets website, but be sure to also call if your pet is not there, the ad may not be up yet.

  3. Call the P.E.I. Humane Society SPCA at 892-1190 and provide a detailed description of your pet. If you have digital photos of your pet, you can email these to a SPCA representative.

  4. Post fliers within a 3-block radius from your home or last seen location and talk to your neighbors directly.

  5. In addition to the PEI Wiki, post ads in Kijiji Charlottetown.

  6. Call the local radio stations K-Rock 569-1003 & Ocean 368-1720 & Magic 93 892-1066

  7. If you have lost a cat, realize that the cat may be hiding during the day due to all the commotion and dogs being walked outside. Go out at night when it is quiet and call your cat's name. You may find that the cat has been hiding in the neighborhood nearby. They often don't go very far.

  8. Call all of the animal clinics in Charlottetown, people bring and report found animals often.
