The Cat’s Cradle is a music venue located in Carrboro. In 2005, Rolling Stone voted the Triangle number 2 on the list of “college towns that rock”, citing the Cat’s Cradle as the area’s best venue. Though it is a small club located in a strip mall, it is one of the premier locations for concerts in the Triangle. In addition, it is very affordable, with tickets usually ranging from eight to 20 dollars apiece. The Cat’s Cradle often hosts up-and-coming Indie music acts, but established acts will also play here. Over the years, Cat’s Cradle has hosted generation-defining groups like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Public Enemy.

Atmosphere

Often times, when well-known artists visit the triangle, they opt to play the Cat’s Cradle rather than a larger venue like DPAC or Time Warner Music Pavilion because Cat’s Cradle provides a more personal setting. Recently, the Cat’s Cradle underwent renovations in order to better utilize its confined space; these renovations increased the maximum capacity to 750 people. There is seating around the perimeter and plenty of standing room in front of the stage. In addition, the venue is non-smoking by choice. Although it is small, plan to get there early because it is located in a strip mall and parking is often an issue.
