Overview

Divine Llama Vineyards offers 11 different wines in their tasting room at a five-acre vineyard nestled in the Yakin Valley. In addition to visiting the tasting room, visitors can also schedule a llama trek, where a llama will carry your supplies while hiking to a creek-side area.

History

Michael West and Tom Hughes, two former architect students at Virginia Tech, purchased the 77-acre site for the vineyard with their wives, Patricia West and Julia Hughes. In 2009, a tasting room centered amongst five acres of vineyards and 20 acres of pasture space was opened. In 2011, Divine Llama Vineyards won awards at Mid-Atlantic Wine Competition for eight of their wines.

The Wines

Dana Acker is the resident winemaker at Divine Llama Vineyards. The vineyard offers four red wines; a cabernet franc, a merlot, and a blend called In a Heartbeat. They have four white wines; Chardonel Gold, Traminette Divine, Traminette Gold and a blend, Mustang Sally. The vineyard only offers one rose wine, Red Rita Rose.
