Durant Road is an arterial thoroughfare that travels east and west in northern Wake County. Running largely parallel to I-540, Durant Road connects unincorporated Wake County to the northern suburbs of Raleigh.

Route Description

Durant Road begins as a two-lane commuter route at Six Forks Road and travels due southeast. Supporting primarily local traffic, Durant connects to multiple pockets of residential development and dense forestland surrounding the south side of Falls Lake. At an intersection with Falls of Neuse Road, Durant widens to a five-lane parkway and becomes more prominently traveled. Establishments and institutions such as WakeMed North, the Falls River shopping center, Durant Road Elementary and Middle Schools, and Green Hills County Park front the roadway, which maintains its largely residential landscape. As Durant approaches its eastern terminus at Capital Boulevard, Durant meets a railroad crossing, a small industrial park, and the entrance to the Leith Car Dealerships.
