Louisburg Road is a major arterial road connecting Capital Boulevard and Northeast Raleigh to the towns of Rolesville and Louisburg. US 401 follows Louisburg throughout its entire route.

Route Description

The roadway begins at Capital Boulevard as a six-lane urban boulevard traveling through a rapidly growing residential area of Raleigh. The roadway passes by Wake Tech after an interchange with I-540, then reduces to four lanes at Ligon Mill/Mitchel Mill Road, transitioning to a superstreet. After the Louisburry Road intersection, Louisburg curves to the east, following a superstreet bypass around the town of Rolesville. North of the bypass, Louisburg Road reduces to a rural two-lane road at an intersection with NC 96, then ends at the Franklin County line, with US 401 continuing to Louisburg.
