Princeton is a small town in Johnston County, North Carolina with a population of approximately 1,200 people.  It was previously home to one of three K-12 schools in the state until a new elementary school was built just southwest of town.  The old facility, a junior-senior high school, now houses grades 6-12.  The town sits along U.S. 70, roughly ten miles east of Smithfield and ten miles west of Goldsboro.  Future development is anticipated as the new U.S. 70 Bypass is constructed around Goldsboro, leaving Princeton as one of the few last stops along this route before reaching the Morehead City area near the coast.

Completed in 2009 with additions in 2010, the Princeton Veteran Memorial is located on W. Railroad Avenue in downtown.  The memorial recognizes veterans from all branches of service, including POWs.  There is an annual Princeton Veterans Day Celebration, which includes a parade through town near the memorial.  Also, the Princeton Christmas Parade falls on the first Saturday in December every year.

The town serves also serves as a place for those wishing to stay fit.  Sidewalks and generally low traffic volume in downtown allow for plentiful access to walkers, runners, and bicyclists alike.  If interested, the local junior-senior high school offers a high quality, quarter-mile rubber-top track circling the football field.  The track is usually open to the public throughout the day as long as no events are taking place.
