The Streets at Southpoint opened on March 8, 2002. It is a great place to shop, host parties, have a family outing, or to hang out with your friends. It contains an indoor shopping mall and outdoor lifestyle center which is different from many other shopping centers because of its exclusive retail, dining and entertainment options. The entire vicinity is called Streets at Southpoint. There are several stores lined up along its Main Street, an aisle of stores lining both sides of a brick walkway and including  Barnes and Nobles, Apple Store and several furniture stores. The Southpoint Cinemas & IMAX is at one end of the Streets at Southpoint surrounded by Crate and Barrel and an outdoor stage. Inside the actual mall contains numerous stores from clothes to food, electronics to household items. In total, there are 2 floors in the mall and over 160 stores. This mall is the closest major mall to colleges such as University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. For entertainment, there are events for the whole family to enjoy throughout the year including an outdoor concert series from April - October and a cast of street performers at The Streets at Southpoint.
