Raised in Raleigh and went to Root Elementary, Hunter Elementary, and Daniels Middle. After graduating from Broughton High School, Bonner received his undergraduate and MBA degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill, then returned to inside the beltline.
He is a Raleigh City Councilor, inaugural Chair of the Technology and Communications Committee, member of the Comprehensive Planning Committee, and Council Liaison to eight boards and commissions.
With a passion for technology, he launched SeeClickFix in his district and then partnered with WRAL to bring SeeClickFix to Raleigh. Because of these and other efforts, he was awarded Outstanding Public Servant (video here).
A team of volunteers and Bonner co-founded CityCamp Raleigh bringing three days of open sourced talks and problem solving to re-imagine the way that technology will shape the future of Raleigh.
His daily work is as General Manager of North Hills, where he continues to push for the annexation of North Hills to inside the beltline. He is active in his church, Vintage 21 and regularly serves as a current board member for Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina, the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association, and the Triangle Commuter Bike Initiative. At the national level, he was asked to serve on the National Technology Adoption Advisory Council.
