Hi! I'm Eric. I have tons of things I'm interested in. I'm working on a business called goMarket, which is kind of like a marketing co-op, buyer's club and online farmers' market all rolled up into one. I'm also an ecologist working on finishing up a master's thesis that investigates how rotational grazing and forest-to-pasture conversion affects soil. (In summary: agriculture [especially cattle, goats and sheep] can be a good thing for the environment!). I have a blog called RethinkAg. I started and organize the #TriSciTweetup and #Trifoodhack.
Background: I grew up in Hickory, NC and first moved to the Triangle in 2001 to attend NCSSM. I then went to NC State where I studied Natural Resources - Ecosystem Assessment and got a minor in Agroecology.
Interests: I'm interested in basically all aspects of sustainable agriculture: design, energetics, marketing, experiential learning, agroecology (!), integrating animal systems, agroforestry and more. I also like beatboxing. I've been using open source since I was 13 and managed the student-run "Unix lab" when I was at NCSSM.
