The Pawtucket Red Sox are a Triple-A (minor league) team that is the top-tier "farm team" within the Boston Red Sox organization. They are part of the International League. Many well-known players have passed through Pawtucket on their way to fame in Major League Baseball, including Hall of Fame inductees like Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens.

The "Paw Sox," as they are familiarly known, play at McCoy Stadium near the intersection of North Bend Street and Division Street. McCoy Stadium hosted the longest game ever played in professional baseball, lasting some 23 innings played over two days.

The Paw Sox traditionally play a home series in early July near the Independence Day holiday, and a major fireworks display follows each game.
