Haskell’s Garden “so called” thence North Westerly by the fence as it now is to land owned by Willard Wood, thence up the hill by Wood’s line and straight on to Charles Kilborn’s land, thence Easterly on said Kilborn’s line to land heretofore sold by said Levi Spalding to Ozro Morrill, thence Southerly by said Morrill’s line to his South West corner, thence Easterly and along by the Stone Wall and said Morrill’s line to the said Queen’s Highway, thence Southerly by the Queen’s Highway to the place of beginning, save and except the portion thereof heretofore by the said Spalding sold to one John Partlow […] ».     • From 1840 to 1850, there were few changes. The limits of the village were gradually extended to the north, and across the river, taking in an area of nearly a square mile. A few enterprising traders and mechanics begun during this time – among whom were A. A. Barry, David White, Stillman Ray, E. Eastman, David Libbee, A. W. Morrill, and C. W. Drew. (p. 35)
