      • Résumé : Vente d’une partie du lot no 1 du 9e rang du canton de Stanstead pour la somme de 125 « Pounds ». Le terrain est décrit ainsi : «…where the distillery was formerly and now used as cloth fulling mill […] with exclusive privilege of using all waters running through the said land […] together with the building erected on the said lot above described for a fulling mill and all the tools apparatus and implements for carrying on the said clothiers works […] ». Haskell reprend donc la manufacture de Kilborn pour y exercer son métier ; explicite dans l’acte.

      • Résumé : Freeman Haskell vend, pour la somme de 25 « Pounds », une partie du lot no 1 du 9e du canton de Stanstead. Terrain décrit ainsi : « …on which the frame for a Clover Mill is now erected, bounded on the main river […] with the privilege of water, on said piece of land, for carrying any business other than that of dressing cloth and oil mill factory and paper manufacturing […] ».

    • Inventory of the Estate of the late Freeman Haskell.
      • Résumé : Sur la demande de Madame Fanny Haskell, veuve de Freeman Haskell, on procède à un inventaire complet des biens. À ce moment, les enfants du couple, Carlos Freeman Haskell et Fanny Louisa Haskell, sont âgés de 4 et 3 ans ; c’est donc Sylvanus Cobb Haskell qui agit en tant que tuteur des mineurs. Pas de renseignements sur les propriétés immobilières, ni les commerces.

  • “The Old Yellow Store”
    • Built in 1809, by Hon. Timothy Hinman. It was first occupied by Nehemiah Colby, of Derby. The property has passed through various hands and is now owned by the heirs of the Hon. P. Baxter. The store has been successively occupied by Baxter & Chamberlin, Baxter & Edmonds, Judd, Bates & Holmes, Judd, Bates & Wood, Baxter, French and Haskell, P. & J. W. Baxter, and Porter & Wiley.
  • Freeman Haskell:
    • In 1823, Freeman Haskell purchased from the Kilborns the entire water power of the canal, with the saw mill, grist mill and clothier’s works, and built a linseed-oil mill. He began with good prospects, but was unfortunately killed by falling against the saw in his mill. His arm was cut entirely off, and survived the accident but a few days. His brother, Sylvanus C. Haskell, succeeded him in the business, but soon after sold out and left the country.

  • Carlos F. Haskell:
    • Son of Freeman Haskell, was five years old at the time of the death of his father. His mother, a woman of energy, had trained him in business habits; and at an early age, we find him engaged in trade, first as clerk, and afterwards as principal. He was cut down in the midst of his years, but not before he had laid down the foundation of a large fortune. He built the “Mammoth Store”, was succeeded in the business by C. H. Kathan.

  • Ozro Morrill:
    • In 1827, Harris Way purchased from the heirs of Freeman Haskell the clothier’s shop and the greater part of the other property, and subsequently bought the shop and other real estate of Otis Warren. Mr. Way continued in business until 1855, and then sold out to Ozro Morrill.

  • He was for many years engaged in an extensive mercantile business at Rock Island, P.Q., He died July 2, 1865.
