- Né à Danville en 1858, il entre au service de la City Bank de Sherbrooke en 1874 jusqu’en 1879, puis pour la Canadian Bank of Commerce pour un an. En 1880, il s’installe à Rock Island et devient l’associé de William Jondro dans la « Jondro & Goodhue boot and shoe manufacturers ». Le partenariat est dissous en 1894 et Goodhue se lance dans son projet personnel (J. B. Goodhue’s Factory).

- For years after his time the Wyman street property was utilized in connection with shoe and leather industry. One of the early operators was George W. James. Other operators were: Ozro Morrill, Morrill & Judd, William Jondro, Jondro & Goodhue. The so-called Jondro factory was later used by Robins and Gilmore, overalls, etc., and later by H. G. Duncalfe and H. J. Gauthier, in the same line. The last use for industrial purposes was by H. J. Cordeau, plumber and tinsmith.

- Très court historique de la compagnie de Rock Island (parle beaucoup des origines de Kilborn’s Mills).
- Souligne l’acquisition d’une « carding mill » par J. B. Goodhue en 1890 ; deux ans plus tard, Goodhue fait agrandir le bâtiment et y ajoute deux étages (c’est dans ce bâtiment qu’il établi sa manufacture de produit « Star Brand ») ; en 1914, la compagnie est achetée par J. V. Poaps d’Ottawa (trois de ses fils se succèderont à la direction de l’entreprise) ; on souligne finalement que les installations de Rock Island fermeront en 1965, la branche de Bromptonville poursuivant les opérations de production.
