Guy Fawkes and his fellow plotters reputedly stayed at the Red Lion Inn in Dunchurch on the evening of the gunpowder plot, to await the news of their success. They planned to make Princess Elizabeth of Bohemia, staying in Coombe Abbey at the time, their new Queen.
