Bonnie Pannell is a local representative of the city council, representing City Council District 8, which includes the neighborhoods of Meadowview, Parkway, Jacinto Creek and North Laguna.
Bonnie Pannell was elected to the Sacramento City Council on June 30, 1998.
She currently serves as a Board Member on the following:
- Regional Transit, Member
- Sacramento Employment & Training Agency (SETA), Chair
- The Sacramento City Library Authority Board, Member
- Personnel and Public Employees (P&PE) Ad Hoc Committee, Member
- Freeport Water Authority (FRWA), Member

- Paratransit, Inc. Board Member
Additionally, Councilmember Pannell serves on the Board of Directors of the following community organizations:

Prior to serving on the City Council, Councilmember Pannell spent twenty-two years of her professional career as an employee for Unilab Medical Laboratories and Pacific Bell in Sacramento.
