This commission acts in an advisory capacity to the council on matters concerning general economic development, marketing, and business relations. Specific areas of involvement include: provide comment on the annual Business Retention and Recruitment reports, work with the chamber of commerce on programs of mutual interest, review and comment on the Development Assistance Policy, advise the council on issues pending before them related to transportation, including light rail and other means of public transportation expansion/improvements in the city, comment on regional transportation plans, comment on parking plans as it relates to business development, and make recommendations on telecommunication studies and policies that the council may be considering.

Meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 6PM in the Council Chamber at City Hall, located at 1110 West Capitol Avenue.
