Biography |
David Valadao was born and raised in Hanford, California in the center of the agriculturally rich 30th Assembly District. As a lifelong resident of the Central Valley, David has been active in agriculture and dairy industry groups, as well as many local causes including Children's Hospital Central California, 4-H, Future Farmers of America, and various Catholic Charities.
The Valadao family emigrated from the Azores Islands of Portugal to the United States in 1969. After settling in the Central Valley, David's father started a small dairy farm in Kings County in 1973. David was born April 14, 1977. As young men, David and his brothers learned the value of hard work by rising early in the morning to labor on the dairy alongside their parents. They were blessed to achieve the American Dream of entrepreneurship and are proud of the business they have built as a family. They consider their many employees to be a part of their extended family.
The business now consists of two separate dairies, as well as over 1,000 acres of farmland in Kings and western Tulare County, on which David and his brothers grow alfalfa, corn and wheat as feed stock for their dairy.
David attended local schools, graduating from Hanford High School in 1995. David then went on to the College of the Sequoias in Visalia. Now David serves as the managing partner of Valadao Dairy.
David married his high school sweetheart, Terra, in 1999. Together, they have three beautiful children, their most recent born April 2010.
Intimately involved in the dairy industry, David has taken on leadership roles within the California Milk Advisory Board, Western States Dairy Trade Association, and was elected as Regional Leadership Council Chairman for Land O' Lakes Inc., a Fortune 200 Company.
