Gray Davis was California's 37th Governor and is known for being recalled by California voters in 2003. Gray Davis was elected governor in 1998 and was reelected in 2002. Prior to serving as Governor, Davis served one term as Lieutenant Governor from 1995-1998. He was also the State Controller (1987-95), State Assemblyman (1982-86) and Chief of Staff to Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. (1975-1981). In 2006 Governor Davis served as a visiting fellow at the UCLA School of Public Policy, and he continues to speak before various academic and civic groups about his tenure as governor. Today, Governor Davis is Of Counsel in the Los Angeles office of Loeb & Loeb LLP, a 250 attorney, multi-service law firm.
