Terry Sidie's latest contribution to the Sacramento gay scene, Headhunters Video Bar and Grill, is the most upscale gay venue in town. Finished concrete floors and high ceilings with exposed wood beams create a modern environment. Bamboo poles, tropical plants, and an ornate steel fence shaped like bamboo and spears pay homage to the tropical theme. However, in true Terry Sidie style, there are several features that are completely out of place. French chaise lounge chairs and room dividers with what appear to be Egyptian writing don't fit well with the modern tropical theme. Similarly, the tacky plastic patio covers tarnish what would otherwise be a nice back patio.

Headhunters attracts an older more established gay crowd (think Log Cabin Republicans), but a handful of younger guys and lesbians can usually be found enjoying the over-priced but otherwise fairly decent food.

Sidie turned over operation of the restaurant to Frank Smith and Bill Waters, who updated the menu and added Miss Kitty's coffeehouse. Sidie still operates the bar.

2007-11-16 18:01:57   I don't know which owner/manager it was, but we went during a busy night, and the proprietor graciously offered to hold a large table for us even though we had many people who hadn't shown up or who we weren't sure were going to show up. —DanielNguyen
