Mission statement
La Cooperativa Campesina is the statewide association of WIA Section 167 and CSBG grantees. La Cooperativa’s members provide education, training, placement and self-sufficiency services to migrant and seasonal farm-workers and other rural poor. It is a member of the Association of Farm worker Opportunity Programs (AFOP). Some services provided are job training, skills development, emergency assistance, housing, and youth programs. These services are offered year-round. La Cooperativa is also a statewide association, with offices all over the state.
Qualifications
You must work in agriculture, or come from a farm worker background. You need to be a citizen or have legal status. They serve more than 68,000 clients annually and 35,000 people are farm workers.
Non-Profit
It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They receive federal and state funding to provide services to farm workers and their families. La Cooperativa’s 5 member organizations provide services to the farm worker population throughout the state of California. These are the member agencies: Center for Employment Training, California Human Development corporation, Central Valley Opportunity Center, Employers’ Training Resource and -Proteus Inc.
