My Sister's House is a safe haven for Asian and Pacific Islander women and children whose lives have been ravaged by domestic violence. It is the first and only non-profit organization in the Central Valley that seeks to eliminate domestic violence in the Asian and Pacific Islander community by providing family educational programs, increasing opportunities for Asian women, and community services.
Mission Statement
"The mission of My Sister's House is to serve the needs of Asian and Pacific Islander women and children impacted by domestic violence by providing a culturally appropriate and responsive safe haven and community services."
Programs/Services Offered
Currently, My Sister's House has educated local schools, businesses, organizations, and places of worship about domestic violence and helped more than 400 victims of domestic violence escape their situation and rebuild their lives.

Who qualifies for the services?
Even though their mission is to eliminate domestic violence in the Asian and Pacific Islander community, women and children of all backgrounds who are seeking for help because they are in or have been in a domestic violence relationship are welcomed as well.
How to make a Difference
Volunteer
There is a variety of volunteer opportunities available. You can facilitate special events, help with office work, or may serve as a Shelter Advocate who works directly with clients.
There is a volunteer application you will need to fill out. If you would like to work as a Shelter Advocate, you will have to attend a 5 day training workshop, which will be on Saturdays. They need all the volunteers they can get. Volunteers may also help out with their fundraiser events. A recent fundraiser event was the 2011 Run for a Safe Haven on Saturday, November 11, 2011. This is one of their biggest fundraiser events held annually.
Car Donation
Car donations are always welcomed. The cars donated will be donated to the mothers who are in need of a car. There is a form that you will need to fill out.
Donate Money
The money donated will help with the programs and services My Sister's House offers. They accept credit cards and checks. The checks can be mailed to the location of the organization, which is stated above.
Wish List
There is a wish list loaded with goods and supplies that can be donated to the organizations. The donated items will be given to the mothers and children who are underprivileged don't have the money to buy food and consumer goods for themselves and their children
Ongoing consumable goods
Donate goods such as spaghetti and tomato sauce, napkins, dish soap, disposable utensils, paper plates and cups.
Shelter resident support
Donate other items such as Target or Walmart gift cards, supermarket gift certificates (Raley's, Safeway, Savemart), Costco gift certificates, women's washable bed slippers (small; medium; large), children's washable bed slippers (small; medium; large).
Office Supplies:
Donate supplies such as scanners, binder clips (all sizes), manila envelopes (all sizes), paper clips, reams of colored and white paper (for copier / printer and outreach).
The following cannot be accepted
- used shoes
- stained, soiled, damaged clothing (rips, tears, holes, missing buttons, broken zippers)
- used underwear
- evening attire
- broken or damaged/outdated appliances
- soiled/damaged/broken/incomplete toys or games
- used stuffed toys
