Oak Park Art GardenThe Oak Park Art Garden consists of a large, formerly-vacant lot which has been developed through the efforts of many volunteers and community members into a shared art, biodiversity, and park resource available to all.

The Art Garden is located at the junction of 14 Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd - a major intersection in the Central Oak Park area.

The project was launched in 2018 through the efforts of a resident nearby the decades-vacant lot, and of the Alchemist CDC (Community Development Corporation), which leased the property to act as an open community activation and park space. Since then, many native young fruit trees have been planted on the site, along with native or drought-tolerant pollinators. Many rounds of weeding and mulching have been performed, and irrigation systems set up along with art walls.

The project is ongoing in the Summer of 2020, with new plants still being kept alive through regular watering and weed-whacking by volunteers. We need help mulching and with your energy at the site, and will be holding a work day soon - stay tuned to the following groups to receive updates.
