Opening Doors provides tools and support for survivors of human trafficking, refugees, immigrants and other under-served residents.

Opening Doors began as a small organization called Sacramento Refugee Ministry in 1993 and was sponsored by the Interfaith Service Bureau. In 2003 Opening Doors was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

It operates four main programs:

  • Refugee Resettlement
  • Prosperity projects (includes Small Business Assistance and Personal Financial Empowerment)
  • Survivors of Human Trafficking
  • Immigration Legal Services

All the contributions are tax deductible You may walk in or schedule a donation pick-up every third Friday of the month.

Volunteer

  • Internship opportunities
  • Mentorship Program - as a mentor "you will be a friend, a liaison to support services, and a community resource for a new family."
  • Refugee Employment Attainment Project (REAP) - The Refugee Employment Attainment Program (REAP) consists of a Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) course.
  • Apartment Setup
  • Special Event Volunteers - help raise awareness of human trafficking and refugee issues.
  • Bike Kitchen Mentors
  • Street Outreach Campaign
