Sac-Anime is a semi-annual anime convention in Sacramento, California. The convention is the sister convention to the Sacramento Anime, Toy, and Comic Show, which is also known as ""Sac-Con"".

History

Sac-Anime Summer 2005, August 30, Sunrise Mall

The first Sac-Anime was a one day convention held at Sunrise Mall. A number of vendors were present, and one viewing room was available. The Cosplay Masquerade was held in front of Macys.

Sac-Anime Winter 2006, January 14, Scottish Rite Center

Sac-Anime was moved to the home of Sac-Con, the Scottish Rite Center (located near the campus of CSUS). The main hall of the Center was decicated to the Dealers Room and was the location of the Cosplay Masquerade.

Sac-Anime Summer 2006, July 15, Scottish Rite Center The main hall of the Center was dedicated to the Dealers Room and was the location of the Cosplay Masquerade. There was one viewing room with a mix of licensed tv shows and anime music videos.

Sac-Anime Winter 2007, January 13-14, Scottish Rite Center

The Winter 2007 show was expanded to two days. It included several new guests of honor including Spike Spencer, musical guest Lisa Furukawa, Che Gilson, Amanda T and Yoko Molotov of Demented Dragon and returning guest Katie Bair of Petting Zoo Wigs. Sac Anime's band line up included J Pop Bay Area band Akai SKY, returning from the July 2006 con, and LA based J Rock band Rusika with their first performance. The two day Sac Anime Con also debuted two new areas. The first was a (RPG) console game room that was run by gamers for gamers which included tournaments such as Naruto GNT4, Super Smash Brothers Mele, Dance Dance Revolution: Super Nova, and a special Japanese PS2 BLEACH tournament. The second new event was Sac Club Rave where the attendees were dancing to various styles of techno & trance along with some of their favorite anime and gaming songs.

Sac-Anime Summer 2007, July 13-15, Red Lion Inn

Summer 2007 was the 5th Sac-Anime, as well as the first time that the convention was held at a hotel, the Red Lion Inn. The guests of honor included: Voltaire, Chris Patton, Keith Burgess, Crispin Freeman, Yishan Li, Spike Spencer, Brent Wooley, Chris Hazelton, and Katie Bair. Musical guests included Akia Sky, Artbeat, and Rusika along with PLID, L2D, {mid:night}, and returning from the January line up was Lisa Furukawa.

The (RPG) Console Game Room and new (CCG) Tabletop gaming section were continued from previous conventions. SAC Club Rave was held for two nights and featured DJ Caen, who had stepped in to DJ for FanimeCon's three nights of dance Memorial weekend in San Jose, CA 2007. New to the panel line up were the "Dolli Tea Party" featuring guest panels, a tea party, and a discussion on Ball Joint Dolls, a "Late Night with..." panel where attendees joined in with guests to discuss different topics like food, fashion, travel and more, and an age 18+ panel event with art contest with art auction, Yaoi Press & Iris Print panels, and Biseinen~ya presents hosting their bingo event.

Sac-Anime Winter 2008, January 11-13, Scottish Rite Center

Back at the Scottish Rite Center with new guests of honor Vic Mignogna (Best known as Edward Elric of Fullmetal Alchemist) , Travis Willingham (Best known as Colonel Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist), Laura Bailey (Best known as Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist), Darrel Guilbeau (Best known Hikari in The Melody of Oblivion) and musical guests include METAL PHYZIX and THE SLANTS.
