The Stucco Factory was an artist colony was situated at 1730 27th Street in Midtown Sacramento. The complex was previously used to manufacture stucco products.
It was founded April 1, 1983 by artists, Gary Dinnen, Steve Vanoni & Brian John Gorman, Director of the Fido Art Gallery. Many local artists had studio spaces there including Jim Adan, Jim Albertson, Arthur Butler, Cactus Liquors (band), Gary Dinnen, Diversion Island with Victor Wong. Fido Art Gallery, Marco Fuoco, Junkwaffel (band), Mark Manoff, Reed Morehouse Brewery, Gene "Robot Repair" Oldfield, Michael Pribich, Julia Stagg, Cathy Swanson, Glenn Takai, Tales of Terror (band), Steve Vanoni, Vivian Terry, Harrison Thomas, Duncan Wong, Lyon Wong to name a few of the participants. Also the 2nd Annual Canine Fashion Show was held in the Courtyard. The Stucco Factory was burned to the ground July 9, 1993 on an 109 degree day by the City of Sacramento under the direction of Walter Slipe the City Manager of Sacramento.
