2011-10-14 13:59:29 Hey, Julie, I made some small changes to the Julie Jorgenson, Marriage and Family Therapist Intern page.
- The Address uses the special [[address(455 University Avenue)]], Suite 270 syntax because that allows the page to create a map link up next to the page title.
- The hyperlinks use brackets around them so browsers that don't automatically linkify urls will know to display the urls as links.
- The link back to the Counseling Services page is standard in articles, so readers who want to know about other counselors/therapists will be able to see others in Sacramento
- The Comments box at the bottom of the page is standard for businesses, service providers, etc. Since this is a resource website, users have to be allowed to comment - it's a bit different than a personal website, on which you can decide what goes up and what doesn't. (Thanks for changing the language away from first person - that's exactly in line with the wiki style!) You'll notice a comments box on my own user page, for example. That's the common way of reaching other editors, by the way. (I'll notice if you comment back here, though, so feel free to respond here if you'd like.) —NicholasBarry
2011-10-14 14:02:26 Oh! One other thing. You'll save a bit of time by making in-wiki links the right way. Instead of typing [http://daviswiki.org/Miscarriage_Support_Group Miscarriage Support Group] (which creates a link that appears to point off-site - like this Miscarriage Support Group), just type the exact page name you're linking to, surrounded by double quotation marks, like this: ["Miscarriage Support Group"]. It's much faster to type, and doesn't create the off-site link. —NicholasBarry

I moved the link to the Counseling Services page because the way it was hyperlinked only to "Marriage and Family Therapist" may be construed as misleading (I'm a MFT Intern and have to make it very clear to readers that I am not yet licensed as a MFT).
Thanks, too, for adding the Comments box! I deleted it by accident and then wasn't sure how to get it back. —JulieJorgenson

2011-10-24 14:26:21 Hey, Julie, I thought the Grief Counseling & Support Services page was redundant, given the existing Counseling Services and Support Groups pages. I merged the info from the Grief page into those latter two pages. Ultimately it would be nice to have a section of Counseling Services that identifies counselors who offer grief counseling. But as you note, a lot of them probably do, so I think it makes sense not to require users to search two to three different pages for counselors. I hope that makes sense! —NicholasBarry
2011-11-09 11:22:03 Nicholas - Thanks for your additional work on the counseling-related pages! What you did makes sense and seems like the cleanest, most logical way to approach organizing this. I was hesitant about deleting the Grief Counseling & Support Services page, but I'm glad you did :) I temporarily pulled my pages as I'm in the process of relocating my office; I'll be back to the SacWiki soon and will continue to contribute to pages related to area services as soon as I am able.
