This commission helps develop and maintain a county general plan; to prepare specific plans based on the general plan and drafts of such regulations, programs and legislation as may be required for the systematic execution of the general plan and to recommend such plans and measures to the board of Supervisors for adoption; to hold a public hearing on any proposed zoning ordinance or amendment to a zoning ordinance and, after the hearing, to render a decision in the form of a written recommendation to the Board of Supervisors; to ear and decide applications for conditional uses or criteria for determining such matters, and applications for variances from the terms of the zoning ordinance; to periodically review the capital improvement program of the county; and to perform such other functions as the Board of Supervisors may provide.
