The Bank of California branch in Watsonville appears in the 1965 Watsonville City Directory as being on 558 Main Street. The 1966 phone book shows it as being on 359 Main Street. the bank continues to appear in the city directory up to the 1977 edition. It continues to appear in the Haines Directory for Watsonville up to 1979 (also on 558 Main Street). The telephone book listing continues to list it as 359 Main Street up to the 1977 edition. It appears it was never properly listed in the telephone directory. The current address of the building is 555 Main Street.
A request to Union Bank for details on the branch and for a copy of the Bank of California logo at the time has not been answered.
Sumitomo Bank appears in the 1978 phone book and Watsonville City Directory in 1978 as being on 558 Main Street. It is possible the Watsonville branch of Bank of California was sold to Sumitomo Bank in 1977.
In 1984, the Bank of California became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Bank, In April 1996, Mitsubishi Bank merged with the Bank of Tokyo. Union Bank (owned by the Bank of Tokyo), merged with Bank of California to become Union Bank of California. In December 2008, Union Bank of California shortened the name to Union Bank.
