2010-05-22 23:10:31 Just so it is stated somewhere... On rare occasions, some surfer gets the idea to paddle from Santa Cruz to Monterey. The distance is about 31 miles. The current goes NORTH along the shore and SOUTH out at sea. A few have quit after 12 miles and make it to a beach near Watsonville. Aside from sun, heat, and thirst, all agree it is a boring trip. The few that have made it had a boat go with them for safety and supplies. —24.4.231.60
