Description of Work

Bob Fitch was a highly energetic, wild-eyed photographer often seen covering local protests, rallies, and marches. His website features a large archive of his work. Fitch participated in peace and justice work for nearly 50 years, starting in Berkeley as a teenager. In the early 1960s he was a photographer for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, where he photographed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

A photo of Cesar Chavez that Fitch took was used for the US postage stamp featuring the labor leader.

Fitch was a resident of Watsonville and a long time staffer at the Resource Center for Nonviolence.

He passed away on April 29, 2016 at the age of 76.
