Bonny Doon Beach. Photo September 2010, by John Pilge. Where Bonny Doon Road meets Highway One is a parking area on the west side of Highway One. The trail there leads across the railroad to a pocket beach called Bonny Doon Beach. There are no facilities at Bonny Doon Beach. There are steep cliffs in the area. On November 7, 2010, a woman was walking along the top of the cliff and fell to the beach. She was able to use her cell phone to call for help. Firefighters and medics used ropes to climb down the cliff to get to the woman.

Sunbathers should be warned not to lay their towels within 15 yards of the cliff face in the northern part of the beach. The cliff face is composed of rotten limestone and large rocks randomly break loose and fall onto the beach.

The northern part of the beach is a protected cove and is clothing optional- on weekends there may be as many as 50 nude sunbathers on the beach.
