There are a few easy hikes at Butano State Park. Others go up the canyon walls and require switchbacks. Hiking trails, 21 drive-in campsites and 18 walk-in campsites. Restrooms with running water are provided. Drinking water is available at the park in both the campground and in the day use areas. There are no showers. As with all state parks, dogs must be on a leash less than six feet long. No dogs allowed on hiking trails. Portable cooking stoves are allowed and fires —in fire pits only— allowed seasonally. Reservations are required for camping.

Directions

Easiest way is from Highway 1, go west on Pescadero Road and turn south on Cloverdale Road. The park gate is about five miles on Cloverdale Road.

Businesses

The nearest gas stations are in Half Moon Bay. Several miles north on Highway 1.

Transportation

No public transportation goes to Butano State Park. It is over eight miles by road from Highway 1.
