California Bank & Trust came to Watsonville when their parent company bought all the branches of Sumitomo Bank in California. This was in March of 1998.
In December of 2001, First National Bank announced it was buying the Watsonville branch of California Bank & Trust. This was completed in 2002. First National Bank already have a branch up the street, they closed the newly acquired branch.
California Bank & Trust is gone from Santa Cruz County but they are still a major bank in the state. The nearest branch of California Bank & Trust is in Cupertino, California.
