Started in 2010, the Capitola Water-wise Garden is designed to conserve water. It is landscaped to trap rain water. It uses 85% native plants. It uses drip irrigation to save water. The garden uses 75% less water than turf grass.

The Soquel Creek District has offered mini-grants to create water-saving gardens.
