The Central Branch of the Santa Cruz Public Library is located across from the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, kitty-corner to the Civic Auditorium, and next to City Hall (across the street), in the Downtown area of Santa Cruz.

Check-out and Circulation

The main circulation desk is located directly next to the library entrance after passing through the alcove. This is where you can check out books, apply for a library card, pay fines, and for general library information. Additionally, there is a self check-out just beyond the circulation desk, where you may check out books on your own. If you want to check out a CD or pay library fines, you must do so at the circulation desk, but checking out any other items is permitted at the self check-out.

Materials

The CD Cornucopia Floweth Over DVDs The Central Branch library probably has the most materials of any of the branches. Loads of books, CDs, videos, magazines, newspapers, cassettes and other materials are available for use, and most are available for checkout. The library website contains specific information about borrowing items, fines, and other services.

The downstairs is devoted to adult materials, while the upstairs level contains children's and teen's materials.
