  • Happy Boy Farms:

Owner Greg Beccio has been growing organically for over 20 years in the central coast region of northern California. They personally deliver produce to farmers' markets, local restaurants and grocery locations throughout the greater bay area, always in the peak of its freshness. Some of their signature crops includes pre-washed baby mixed salad greens with edible flowers, tender leafy greens, juicy specialty melons, flavorful heirloom and dry-farmed tomatoes as well as potatoes, sweet potatoes, specialty peppers and many unique varieties of summer squash and bunched herbs. The achievements and prolonged existence of the farm are directly due to the dedication and enthusiasm of the Happy Boy employees, some of whom have been with the farm since its beginnings, well over a decade ago.

  • Flying Disc Ranch

Robert Lower founded Flying Disc Ranch in 1979. He started growing dates nearby (leasing palms) in 1974. Robert cleared, plumbed, and planted the ranch from scratch. The rows were desert before 1979. He feels like a pioneer.

Flying Disc Ranch has always been a direct market enterprise. From the beginning, we trucked our produce to food cooperatives in San Diego, Laguna Beach, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and Portland. When many of the food cooperatives dissolved, we sold to health food stores and buying clubs. When they faded, we started farmers markets (our first was in Riverside, in 1972).

Products: Dates, grapefruit, oranges

  • Fogline Farm

Fogline Farm is located at the historic Manildi Ranch, nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Soquel Village.  Overlooking the Monterey Bay at 900 feet above sea level, the farm is in a spectacular setting and enjoys a beautiful growing climate with cool evenings and warm, sunny days. Fogline Farm’s owners, Caleb Barron and Johnny Wilson, try to design the agricultural systems to take full advantage of nature’s inherent resilience, beauty and abundance. To the best of our ability, we commit to steward the land in the most ecologically responsible way. We farm without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and genetically modified organisms.  All of our animals are raised on pasture and fed organic feed, and our crops are rotated in order to take advantage of the fertility and pest management the animals provide.  We manage our farm so every operation provides a benefit to another. This practice allows for minimal outside inputs and eliminates most of its waste.
