The Disco Department Store was a discount department store chain.  It became a subsidiary of Daylin Corp., headquartered in Beverly Hills.  The one in Santa Cruz County was located in Capitola, on Bay Avenue (before Kmart and other discount retailers moved into town).  The store was in the building where Nob Hill Foods and CVS pharmacy stores are now located.  The Daylin Corp. continued into the early 1980's.  It was once on the American Stock Exchange.

2012-01-05 15:48:05   In the 1975 Polk Directory,809 Bay Avenue was listed as vacant. In the 1974 Phone Directory, Disco was NOT listed in the yellow pages but was listed in the white pages. Disco was listed in the 1973 Phone Directory in both the white pages and the yellow pages. That is why 1974 is chosen as the end date. The phone book for 1974 (Santa Cruz) was issued in June. —Harlan
